Project: Eric Moris Kitchen Countertop Extension

Glass Artist | George C. ScottArtist: George C. Scott

Challenge: The client wanted to integrate a fused glass countertop with the existing granite countertop and extend it out to create a bar area.

Solution: Seattle, Washington Pamela Nast Interior Design selected Glass Artist | George C. ScottGlass Artists Gallery to help her create the perfect bar area for Eric’s kitchen. Combining George’s unique method of which he combines 6 layers of glass to create the desired 1” thick countertop with texturing on the bottom to create optics within the glass. The texture was created specifically for this project to be on the underside of the counter as the entire plate was to be elevated 4.5” above the granite surface it was to suspend off of. The artist created custom brackets to lift the countertop above the granite.

About the Artist: Artist George C. Scott combines his signature art form with the multiple disciplines of glass art. His artistic talent and 25 years experience in glass application allow him to exhibit the innate poetic beauty of fused, slumped, blown and leaded glass. Each piece Scott creates joins the simplicity of form with the complexity of his textured designs and color treatments.

His work reflects this dichotomy and can be seen in a myriad of decorative architectural installations in such forms as pendant glass lighting, sculptural wall treatments, water features, room and wall dividers, glass tiles and counters, bathroom shower enclosures and sinks, and much more. With each project, he finds a way to meld abstract artistic notions and the piece’s physical setting.

George’s work is a wonderful compliment in our lighting gallery.
